I’ve been MIA for the past week and I’m so sorry about that! I decided that I wanted to take a week off from blogging and focus on my family. Thanksgiving is a time to be thankful and appreciate what you have, so that’s exactly what I did. I hope that you all had a wonderful Thanksgiving filled with family, friends, food and happiness!I hope that you all had a wonderful Thanksgiving filled with family, friends, food and… Click To Tweet
We had a great Thanksgiving. This year I was able to help a lot because we had a huge celebration at my dads’ house with the entire family (around 40 people)! We also celebrated his 60th birthday which was a surprise. He knew the family was coming over, but he was clueless that we were also having a party for him. His girlfriend asked me to help a bit, which was nice to have a bit of control with a holiday. Usually all of the matriarchs have everything handled and we just need to make 1 dish and show up.
I enjoy cooking for a purpose and for others to enjoy. I have a tendency to get bored cooking mainly for the boys because well… they’re boys… they don’t like half of the food that I make! If our oldest was allowed to eat tacos every single day, he would. It’s nice to have your hard work appreciated! My husband enjoy’s cooking also, so it was great to get in the kitchen with him and cook together.I enjoy cooking for a purpose and for others to enjoy Click To Tweet
Our 2nd son helped me make my brothers gluten-free/dairy free stuffing and he had so much fun! He is so independent and didn’t want me to even get near the bowl when he was mixing. I tried to let him do everything himself, but I did need to step him and help mix.
My husband has been home for the past week and we’ve loved being able to spend every day with him. It’s so nice to see how excited our boys get when they see him walk in the door from work at night. I was so grateful that he was able to work in town and be able to help around the house. We did some much-needed deep cleaning in our living room and oldest sons bedroom. Our plan was to get all the Christmas decorations up, but that didn’t happen. I’m ok with it though, the boys and I can slowly get the decorations up this week.
We went to my moms’ house on Saturday and had Thanksgiving there with our grandma and that side of the family. It was very different from my dad’s house, we were all able to sit at the table together and pass the food around, where at my dads there was so much food that some was upstairs and some was downstairs and everyone was all over the place… which is just like his family so it worked out just fine. It was a big giant party. I was very grateful that I was able to have another Thanksgiving with my grandma, even if it wasn’t on Thanksgiving day. She makes these green beans with little white beans mixed in and some vinegar I think…. omg… I love them! I ate probably more than I should have, but they’re veggies right… it’s all good!
Yesterday (Sunday) our friend Lindsay, who is also a photographer came to my mom’s house and took Christmas pictures of boys. This is a tradition that my mom has carried on since my brother and I were young. I love that she does this for us because I love any pictures, but being able to have professional pictures of our boys is so much better I think. The quality is wonderful and the poses that we come up with every year are always fun to do. The boys were troopers as usual. We used lemonade and cookies to bribe our 2-year-old when we started to lose him, and we used the pacifier for the baby when he was getting tired of being posed lol. Here’s a little sneak peek!
Overall, I’m very happy that I decided to take a little break from blogging, I love it, but I love spending time with my family more.
